Privacy Policy

JAIL TALK CONNECTIONS LLC · Last updated September 21, 2026

1. Who we are

Jail Talk is operated by JAIL TALK CONNECTIONS LLC ("Jail Talk", "we", "us"). This policy explains what personal information we collect through the Jail Talk mobile app and jailtalkapp.com, why we collect it, and what control you have over it. Jail Talk is for adults 18 and over only.

2. Information you give us

We only ask for what the app actually needs to work.

  • Account: your email address and password, or your Google sign-in identifier. Passwords are stored hashed by our authentication provider; we never see them.
  • Profile: your display name, date of birth or age confirmation, photos, videos, artwork, bio, and the profile questions you choose to answer.
  • Incarcerated members: facility, ID/DIN number, charges, sentence length, dates, and a sex-offense attestation. This is displayed publicly on your profile because it is what the profile is for.
  • Content: posts, comments, replies, messages, and anything else you write or upload.
  • Support and reports: what you write to us, and what you report about other members.
  • Payments: if you buy a one-time unlock, boost, or listing, our payment processor (Stripe) handles your card. We store only the amount, date, and what it unlocked. We never see or store your full card number.

3. Information collected automatically

  • Usage analytics: which screens you open, how long you stay, and which features you tap — tied to a random session identifier, not to your name.
  • Device and technical data: device type, operating system, app version, and IP address, used for security, abuse prevention, and fixing crashes.
  • Push token: only if you turn notifications on. Turning them off deletes the token.
  • Approximate location: only if you use a location feature (such as finding places near a facility), and only with your permission.

4. Why we use it

  • To create and run your account and show your profile to other members.
  • To deliver messages, notifications, matches, and the features you asked for.
  • To keep people safe: automated scanning of uploaded photos and video, spam and fraud prevention, and reviewing reports.
  • To process payments and provide receipts.
  • To fix bugs, measure what works, and improve the app.
  • To publish anonymized, aggregated trend information that cannot identify any individual.
  • To meet legal obligations and respond to lawful requests.

5. What we share — and what we never sell

We do not sell your personal information. We do not share it with advertisers for their own use.

  • Other members see what you publish: your profile, posts, comments, and the messages you send them.
  • Service providers who run the app on our behalf: hosting and database, authentication, email delivery, payment processing (Stripe), and AI content moderation. They may only use the data to provide that service to us.
  • Law enforcement or other authorities, when the law requires it, or where it is necessary to prevent imminent harm — in particular child-safety matters, which we report as legally required.
  • A successor entity, if the business is ever sold or merged. You would be told.

6. What we never show other members

Your email address, your home address, your phone number, your payment details, and your DOC account information are never shown to other members.

7. How long we keep it

  • Your account data is kept while your account exists.
  • Deleted posts sit in Recently Deleted for 30 days, then go permanently.
  • Tea Room posts auto-delete 30 days after they are posted.
  • Payment and moderation records are kept as long as tax, accounting, and safety law requires, even after account deletion.
  • Analytics data is retained in aggregated, non-identifying form.

8. Deleting your account and your data

You can permanently delete your account yourself, inside the app, at Settings → Pause or delete account. Deletion is immediate and cannot be undone. You can also download a copy of everything you have created.

If you cannot access the app, email jailtalkconnections@gmail.com from your account address with the subject "Account deletion request". Full detail of what is deleted and what must legally be retained is on our account deletion page.

9. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information, to object to certain processing, and to complain to a data-protection authority. We honour these requests for everyone, not only where they are legally required. Write to us and we will act within 30 days.

10. Security

All traffic between your device and Jail Talk uses encrypted HTTPS connections. Data is stored with access controls that restrict every record to the account it belongs to. Administrative keys are held server-side only and are never present in the app on your device. No system is perfect, so please use a strong, unique password and tell us right away if something looks wrong with your account.

11. Permissions on your phone

We ask for a permission only when you use the feature that needs it: camera and photos when you upload, notifications when you turn alerts on, location when you look up places near a facility. You can refuse or revoke any of them in your phone settings — the rest of the app keeps working.

12. Children

Jail Talk is strictly for adults 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If we learn an account belongs to a minor, we delete it. See our Child Safety Standards for how we handle exploitation reports.

13. Changes to this policy

If we make a material change, we will update the date at the top and ask you to re-accept inside the app. Your continued use after a change means you accept the updated policy.
