Community Guidelines

Jail Talk is full of people holding a family together across a wall. These rules keep it that way. They apply to every post, comment, photo, video, profile and private message on the app. Breaking them gets content removed and can end your account.

What we want here

Never allowed

Harassment and bullying

Repeated unwanted contact, pile-ons, mocking someone's charges, family or appearance, or contacting someone after they've blocked you on another account.

Threats, violence and hate

Threats of harm to anyone — members, families, staff. Slurs or attacks based on race, religion, national origin, disability, gender, gender identity or sexual orientation.

Sexual content and unwanted sexual messages

Nudity, pornography, sexually explicit images or descriptions, and sending sexual messages or photos to anyone who did not ask for them.

Sexual exploitation and anything involving a minor

Absolute zero tolerance. No sexualized content involving anyone under 18, no grooming, no solicitation of minors, no trafficking. Accounts are removed immediately and reported to the authorities. See our Child Safety Standards.

Scams, fraud and money requests

Asking strangers for money, gift cards, commissary deposits or crypto. Fake fundraisers, fake legal services, fake bail offers, phishing links.

Impersonation and fake profiles

Pretending to be another person, an attorney, a bail agent, an organization or staff. Using someone else's photos. One account per person.

Illegal activity and contraband

Arranging drugs, weapons, phones or anything else prohibited by a facility. Instructions for crime. Anything that violates a facility's rules.

Private information

Posting anyone's home address, phone number, DOC account details, legal documents or photos without their permission.

Spam and manipulation

Repetitive posts, bulk messaging, bots, engagement farming, or advertising outside the paid listing surfaces.

How to report

Tap the menu on any profile, post, comment or conversation and choose Report. You can also block the person so they can't message or interact with you. Reports go straight to our moderation queue — a person reviews every one. Anything involving a child, a threat, or someone's immediate safety is reviewed first. You can also email jailtalkconnections@gmail.com.

What happens when rules are broken

  1. Friendly notice — the content comes down and you're told why.
  2. 1-hour cooldown from posting and messaging.
  3. 24-hour suspension of the account.
  4. Permanent ban, with content removed and new accounts barred.

Serious violations — child sexual abuse material, credible threats, trafficking, fraud at scale — skip the ladder entirely and result in immediate permanent removal, plus referral to law enforcement where the law requires it.
